Dr. Justin Garcia, Assistant Professor, Sociology/Anthropology

Racial/ethnic issues remain highly sensitive in American society and are topics that many faculty members and students often would prefer to avoid.  However, race and ethnicity often take central focus in humanities and social science courses.  Although intimidating and challenging, classroom lectures and discussions about racial and ethnic issues can be some of the most educational and personally rewarding opportunities for both faculty and students.  This presentation provides practical advice and effective strategies for successfully broaching topics of race and ethnicity in your courses.
