External Style Sheets and Character CountHi Team, New to Localendar and have some questions.... I am currently using the free calendar. I am considering upgrading to the Pro version but have been doing a test run with the free one first... In setting up an event I have tried to use a link to an external style sheet but haven't had much look but this external link must be in the "head" of the page since a head tag isn't part of the accepted HTML for an event I didn't get what I wanted... So... I thought that I might be able to use an embeded style bock but that didn't give the full set of results. So... I created a stand alone HTML document that has all of the style attributes included into each HTML tag that I am using. Here is the final version of the code that I wanted to use:
The problem that I have run into is that there is a 2000 character limit in the event description field. This character count includes HTML tags and attributes. So what's the work around? It is very important to me that I have complete control over the look an feel of any event since each of these will display in our site. Any help, input or suggestions would be greatly apprecaited.... |

Re: External Style Sheets and Character Count I think I get the gist of what you're trying to do.. and there are probably a few ways to accomplish this. But for starters, have you tried adding some of your custom styles to the "common event description" box under Options->Events ? You can get a little more room that way (use an embedded <style>) An embedded <style> block in the description should work as well so you should not have to put the html in such verbose format. Re: External Style Sheets and Character Count Ok... thanks for telling me about the "common event description box in the Options for Events... I didn't realize that was there.... Let me ask you my question in a different way.... Can I use a link to an external style sheet in the "common event description" box under Options->Events ? If so, that will solve my entire problem. I would like to put a link like the following in there if I am able: <link rel="STYLESHEET" type="text/css" href="http://cvarchers.com/development/css/default.css"> As alway, you help is appreciated.... Re: External Style Sheets and Character Count You absolutely are, and I think you'll be pleased with the results. Also remember that when you type HTML into an event description, you need to click the HTML button on the toolbar and not enter it directly into the description box. Re: External Style Sheets and Character Count Spoke too soon and hate to be a pain about all of this but when I added the following to the "common event description" box under Options->Events: <link rel='STYLESHEET' type='text/css' href='http://cvarchers.com/development/css/calendar.css' /> and then try to access the elements in the linked style sheet by using classes in my event description HTML it doesn't work. I did a preview of the "source" of the event "preview" and it doesn't show the link being added to the event at all... Is there any way for you to access my account to check and see if I have screwed this up? At this time I only have one re-occuring event on the calendar but that event does have all of the .css classes applied.... So you have it handy, here is code for the event and yes I did select "html" on the event editor:

Re: External Style Sheets and Character Count Have a look at your public calendar at: http://www.localendar.com/public/rickpugh Click on the test event I added on 1/30. You will see 2 of your styles being used to display the text. I'm not sure why you're having a problem.. did you edit the HTML from the special HTML window? Hopefully, you can have a look at that event and it will be of help  I think the Preview does not pull in the custom CSS b/c that window is just generated from the current HTML form. If you check it once it's saved you should be fine.
