When an event is added incorrectly, how do I contact the person who has added the event? I need to know who is posting events.

Visitor events are currently added anonymously, because they are added from your public calendar view and there is no requirement to create a localendar account or sign-in.

However, we will be adding optional data fields for the author to identify themselves. These will not be required however (even if they were, false information could be supplied)

I've mentioned this issue before as well unsuccessfully.

The problem is that when something is added to the calendar that has missing or confusing or contradictory information like where the event is to take place etc. the lack of a contact e-mail means that the only option is to delete the listing.

That doesn't serve the purpose of having the calendar in those instances.

Why cannot the owners of a calendar that we pay for have the ability to contact whoever posts to the calendar.

This absence serves neither the owner nor the poster who will never know why his or her posting isn't on the calendar when any issue could have easily been cleared up if contact were possible.

Just to be clear; having the owner name wouldn't solve the problem of an event being "rejected", because no record would be stored. If the event isn't retained, the owner name would be lost as well.

I am fine suggesting a "Contributor Contact" address on the Event Add form. The questions are:
1. Should this be visible only to the calendar owner?
2. Should it be a required field?

Naturally, even if it is required, some people will still fill it w/ bogus information.

Even if a bogus e-address was entered on occasion by the poster, it would still be better to have it for contact and clarification purposes for missing, confusing etc. info on the event in cases where the address is valid.

On receipt of the normal system message notifying me of an event that is sent to my e-address from Localendar, if it has the e-address of the poster, whether valid or bogus, all I would do is send an e-mail via my normal provider to the e-address given to let the poster know there is a problem with the posting. Then I would either get clarification from the poster and make the adjustment or the poster could him or herself. In the case of a bogus address, I would receive a report via my provider that it was invalid and simply delete. the event.

For my purposes, it need be visible only to the calendar owner and it should it be a required field.

I just received six notifications that events had been added to my calendar, likely by the same contributor on examining the content and the approach.

All events appear valid, but in each case there was no indication of the time of the event nor any detail in the Description.

Without the e-mail of the poster, I have no way to follow up on these postings nor to provide guidance to whoever posted the events.

Incidentally, it appears that they were posted using the Add Event button at the bottom of the calendar, so at least THAT was working in this case.

I will have a look at the logs and see if we can tie this to a problem. I admit that having a "submitter contact info" section would make tracking this down easier. We could ask that person, "What did you paste?" to try and duplicate the error.

Yes. We need to know who is adding events. Sometimes they don't include enough information to even make the event public.

If they fill it in with bogus information, so be it. We won't make it public.

Please resolve this issue. We want a calendar where we are able to contact the individual and/or organization.

Per my post elsewhere, I'd like to voice support for verification of events. E-mail at the very least should be a required field but additional fields like a telephone number and the person's 'connection' with the event (organiser, fan, venue manager for example) would be useful options.

At present those posting events have clearly been genuine but if you added steps like this it might discourage potential spammers and those just thinking it would be fun to add nonsense. It's a difficult balance. This would also enable a calendar owner to build a database of contributors that could be useful later and encourage the community spirit at the heart of localander?

First, I love these calendars!

and B, I agree with this suggestion whole heartedly.

An email contact for the poster should be a requirement and should be visible only to the calendar mod. We can deal with bogus info internally.

and thirdly, is there anyway the time of the event can be included in the synopsis that is sent to me?

Thanks!
