It would be 'very' helpful to create a button that allows the user the create links without seeing or understanding the code behind it. The user would need only position their cursor in the text description box, click the new button and upon saving the results, would see the preview of the HTML generated. By highlighting the link, they should be able to click that same button to enter/edfit the fields/options as below. So, said button would pop up a little window with: Type of Link: {drop down with options: web page, image, document} Open in New Window: {dropdown with options: yes, no} Name of Link: {text field for path of link***} Mouse Over Name: {text field for Title} Text Reference: {text field for Label to be Displayed Instead of Link} So, I might type in: Type of Link: document Open in New Window: Yes Name of Link: flyers/flyername.jpg*** Mouse Over Name: My Event Text Reference: my flyer The HTML that would get generated would be: {text leading up to the link}<a href="fully qualified path/flyers/flyername.jpg" alt="My Event" target="_blank">my flyer</a>{text following link} ***fully qualified path would be resolved by getting the path of the location of the web page on which the calendar is displayed and adding "flyers/flyername.jpg" to the path. This should be done just as if you were adding this link inside your web page where you would not have to specify the current path of the page is "http://somedomain.com/". Without this capability, every time you moved you web pages, your links would break so this location information shouldn't be 'hard-coded' into these links. Also, provide the above interface ensures the correct HTML is generated and a layman user would not need to know HTML in order to produce the desired results. Maybe this is already "supposed" to work (in part) with the insert/edit link button but that button is always disabled for me when I try to add a link for the first time. If I type in the link then save the event, then go back to edit the event, THEN I can highlight the resulting link and click on that button. However, even if this were not supposed to behave this way, the options for defining your link are insufficient to be able to produce the above anyway. MJS |

Please try typing some "display text" (not a url) and then selecting it. You will see the toolbar link button is now selected. Click the button, and a small popup allows you to set the url, as well as if the link should display in a new window or not. This popup doesnt let you set alternate mouseover text. This is normally set in the ALT tag on a link in the HTML. If you want to get to the HTML for a link, you can click the HTML button on the toolbar. We don't necessarily have the ability to get the path of the server where the calendar is being displayed (for example, we may be included in an iframe) which is why we require the member to supply the full url themselves. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
