Instead of starting from the 1st of the month, I'd like to be able to set a specific start date for the calendar and have it show 6+ weeks of events.

We dont support flexible durations like that (except on the Today+Happening soon view), but you can pass a "start_date" parameter to the calendar to have events start from a specific period.

For the month views, this will default to the first day of the month for the date you specify; the first of the week for the week views, and the specific day for the date views.
