After the chanting, you may choose to stay for a short meditation.


 

Together with the participants from the audience, Shantiband creates a musically rich and engaging spiritual environment for chanting. Chants and songs are taken from many spiritual traditions, including ancient and contemporary works, including some originals.
 
Shantiband features Lisa Thiel on harmonium and vocals, Matt Lerner and Scott Evans on guitar, bass and vocals, Elaine Ohm on vocals and guitar, Paul DiFranco on percussion and vocals, Larry Terkel, and other friends of 3rd Saturday and the Hudson Yoga community.

This weekly workshop will teach the fundamentals of electric blues and rock guitar, including hand techniques and how to get the most out of your equipment. This class is NOT about reading music…it’s about playing and having fun!

This is an intermediate level class.
Students should be able to play bar chords.
Students will need to bring their own guitar and a small amplifier.
You can drop in on this class, but you should preregister

The fee for the workshop is $30 per hour, $25 for Peninsula Art Academy members.

On the 2nd SUNDAY of every month the Peninsula Art Academy (PAA) will be hosting FOLKNITE at the PAA. Bring your acoustic instruments and join in, or sit back, bring a picnic if you like, and enjoy the music. Here’s the low down on the FolkNite …

From 7 to 10:30 pm at the Peninsula Art Academy, come and share and learn songs from various acoustic genres.

We’ll together journey from traditional folk and old-time music to the music of Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg, John Denver, and Allison Krauss to possibly even some brand new originals.

Bring your unplugged guitars, banjos, mandolins, harmonicas, whatever – and especially voices!

The purpose is to teach each other and be surprised by the collaboration of creativity.

The evening will be hosted by Greg Canda and a bit of technology may help us all with some of the lyrics and chords. But the real music will come from all of us - come and join the fun!

This weekly workshop will teach the fundamentals of electric blues and rock guitar, including hand techniques and how to get the most out of your equipment. This class is NOT about reading music…it’s about playing and having fun!

This is an intermediate level class.
Students should be able to play bar chords.
Students will need to bring their own guitar and a small amplifier.
You can drop in on this class, but you should preregister

The fee for the workshop is $30 per hour, $25 for Peninsula Art Academy members.

Most of the players are blues but we also have entertained pop rock country etc. Hosted by Joe Smith/Jeff Rice - bands are welcome as are singles/duos etc - they can either sit in with the house band or do their own act. This weekly workshop will teach the fundamentals of electric blues and rock guitar, including hand techniques and how to get the most out of your equipment. This class is NOT about reading music…it’s about playing and having fun!

This is an intermediate level class.
Students should be able to play bar chords.
Students will need to bring their own guitar and a small amplifier.
You can drop in on this class, but you should preregister

The fee for the workshop is $30 per hour, $25 for Peninsula Art Academy members.

Most of the players are blues but we also have entertained pop rock country etc. Hosted by Joe Smith/Jeff Rice - bands are welcome as are singles/duos etc - they can either sit in with the house band or do their own act. This weekly workshop will teach the fundamentals of electric blues and rock guitar, including hand techniques and how to get the most out of your equipment. This class is NOT about reading music…it’s about playing and having fun!

This is an intermediate level class.
Students should be able to play bar chords.
Students will need to bring their own guitar and a small amplifier.
You can drop in on this class, but you should preregister

The fee for the workshop is $30 per hour, $25 for Peninsula Art Academy members.

Most of the players are blues but we also have entertained pop rock country etc. Hosted by Joe Smith/Jeff Rice - bands are welcome as are singles/duos etc - they can either sit in with the house band or do their own act. Sign up is during happy hour 7:00 PM till about 8:00 Performance times are from 8:30 to close, (generally 1:30). No need to bring equipment as the house provides amps, drum kit, and keyboard - just bring bring your guitar or other instrument, (sax, flute, harp, etc).

This Saturday and every Saturday night, come out and play or just come out to support local artists in our community.

Cover charge is $2.00 and artists get in FREE! Refreshments are available and popcorn is FREE!

House drum set and amps are available so bring the whole band! To sign up for your time slot ahead of time or for more info call Woodsy's Music at 330-673-1525, open mic night is held in The Woodsy's Performance Annex with entrances located behind Woodsy's Music, and on Main St. in Kent, Ohio.
