Starting in Penmaen, we walk along the Gowers central ridge to the highest point, then descend slowly down through villages, nature reserves and country estates to Oxwich bay where we walk along the beach to three cliffs before climbing back up to the cars (approx 1 mile

climb) . Moderate 8.5 mile walk with 2/3 climbs over well defined paths.

Croquet taster

Spend an hour or so trying out Croquet in an idyllic spot south of Bridgend, including playing a game. Equipment and tuition will be provided. Please wear flat soled shoes eg trainers. Cost: £5 per person Lawn fees (free to anyone who wants to just come and watch). Please let me know if you're planning to come by 7th July. Parking onsite, carsharing advised.

This scenic walk starts at the 14 Locks Visitor centre and goes via the locks along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal through a golf club and via Maescoed Mawr woods to follow the canal back to the start.

This walk takes us away from the usual coastal areas into the traditionally Welsh speaking Border Vale where we will make our way from Ystradowen, past many points of interest which includes two grand houses, two Churches, two pounds, one Norman Mott plus forested areas and spreading open landscapes. We will then finish our walk with refreshments in The White Lion at Ystradowen. 

Duration of walk, 7.5 Moderate Miles.

Bring Packed Lunch.

Meet outside The White Lion at 10.15 to start our walk at 10.30.

(Parking will be on streets around the area of White Lion. I will contact the group with further information on parking after I have reccied this walk.)
