Sunday, November 1, from 2-4pm, to celebrate an exhibit of historical items collected by the Yarmouth Friends Meeting House, in the Board Room from October 28 through November 8. Come enjoy the exhibit and refreshments. All are welcome.

Family Bereavement Support Program
Heart to Heart, a free six-session family bereavement support program, will be starting on Monday, November 2, 2009 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm for children ages 5-13 who have experienced the loss of a parent, sibling or grandparent. Meetings will be held every other week in November-December 2009 and January-March 2010. Children and parents/adults could come to one or both sessions. A pizza dinner will be provided. VNA Hospice staff and volunteers with special training will be facilitating the groups, which will be divided by age with a separate group for the parents/adults. The program will be held at the Cultural Center. Doug and Kimberlee McHugh of Ballroom Bliss continue their lessons with Rumba (at 7pm) and Cha-Cha (at 8pm) on November 3, 10, 17, and 24. The cost for this 4-week session is $40 for singles and $72 per couple. Or drop in for a single class at $12 per person. This session will be followed by a Latin Dance Party with music, dancing, snacks and decorations on November 21. In each 4-week session, instructors Doug and Kimberlee McHugh will introduce a ballroom dance style with enough material to get students comfortable on the dance floor. Basic steps will be taught with additional steps and styling each week. Dress is casual and smooth-soled shoes are highly recommended. November 7. Reception at 7pm featuring an extensive selection of photos, memorabilia, treasures from the long history of Quakers on Cape Cod. Concert at 7:30pm. $10 suggested donation, children under 18 free. In celebration of 350 years of Quaker presence in the mid-Cape area, Ensemble Passacaglia will perform music from 350 years ago and beyond (primarily European medieval & renaissance music) for winds, plucked strings, and percussion. Jan Elliott on recorder and crumhorn; Lisa Esperson, percussion; Tom Hanna on lute and mandolin; Molly Johnston on viola da gamba. This event, hosted by the Yarmouth Friends Meeting House, is a benefit for the Cape Cod Council of Churches’ Hands of Hope Outreach Center and Food Pantry. All are welcome.

A celebrated director and producer of documentaries and television programs, Michael has earned five regional Emmys, a Blue Ribbon at the American Film Festival, several ADDY awards, and the Gabriel award for outstanding television programming. While visiting Cape Cod, he will bring several short films to the Cultural Center: a piece on the growing passion of seniors for ballroom dancing; the story of a driving range called Longknockers (a true melting pot of personalities); a film on what happens when a traditional folk music group from Italy visits a Pittsburgh community; and The Gambian Paradox, in which a professor and eight students travel to Gambia and witness the distinctive tapestry of cultures, ethnicity, and customs that characterizes the country.
