]]> Sun, 08 Nov 2009 09:15:00 CST http://www.localendar.com/elsie?DAM=PublishedEvent&event_id=286&calendar_id=272881&k=110809&cb=false http://www.localendar.com/elsie?DAM=PublishedEvent&event_id=286&calendar_id=272881&k=110809&cb=false <![CDATA[AURORA VETERANS' DAY PARADE - ALL AVAILABLE HANDS]]> The City of Aurora's Veterans Day Parade is this Wednesday in downtown Aurora.  I know that many of you are in school this Wednesday and cannot attend.  I am most appreciative of those of you who were able to march yesterday in Utica.  We were blessed with beautiful weather and a very moving speech from Major Tammy Duckworth.  It was also good that we integrated with the Borling and Pimetoui Divisions and brought a lot of attention to our program. 
Cadets, if you are not in school on Wednesday, but need a ride, please contact me through your section leader.  I will find a way for you to be a part of this very important day.  We may also need one more person to assist with color guard.
This year, our division is behind the Chicago Highland Rifles and before Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner.  Please report to position 13 near the corner of Water and Benton Streets (old Beacon News building) at 0930.  The parade steps off at 10:15, and the ceremony follows immediately after the parade. 
Sea Cadet Uniform:  Dress blues, raincoat, scarves, gloves
League Cadet Uniform:  Salt & peppers, raincoat, scarves, gloves
Officers/Staff:  Dress blues, raincoat, scarves, gloves.  Khakis permitted
The high on Wednesday is expected to be around 56 degrees and partly cloudy.  Be prepared for changes in the weather and feel free to wear thermal underwear under your dress uniform/salt & peppers, if needed.

Illinois Avenue in Aurora]]> IMPORTANT NOTE:  We will be at the Fox Valley Park District's Prisco Center at 150 W. Illinois Avenue in Aurora.  It is located at the SE corner of IL-31 and Illinois.  The Prisco Center requires that all cadets submit a waiver signed by a parent.  The form is available from the unit's web page. YOU WILL BE SENT HOME if you do not have a signed release. 
We will be in the NORTH GYM of the facility, which means athletic shoes only.  So, it's your lucky day, Folks....we are wearing PT gear all day.  But be forewarned:  you MUST wear ISSUED PT gear only, which is the white PT shirt with the Navy logo on the front with plain black or blue shorts or sweat pants.  The dark blue Navy sweatsuit is also acceptable because it was issued to you.  It is NOT the new yellow Navy PT shirt.  I'll say it again, it is NOT the new yellow Navy PT shirt.  DO NOT show up wearing a t-shirt from one of your trainings, or in shorts that have your school's name on it, or any other unauthorized clothing.  If you do not have a white PT shirt, tell your section leader.
Basketballs are needed for PT.  Bring one if you have it.  We're in for a great day!
