BUSINESS SEMINAR: Government Contracting and Bid Preparation

The Central Texas Business Resource Center will conduct a two-part seminar with The Cross Timbers Procurement Center and the Hispanic Contractors Association of DFW.

The first session titled Understanding Government Contracting, is for anyone wanting to participate in the government contracting process (Commodity, Services, or Construction). This session will discuss the rules, regulations, and the law as it relates to government contracting (i.e. Federal, State, and local governments) as well as explain those things that are important to know before you start the government contracting process. This session will be from 9:00 am – 11:30 am.

The second session titled Writing and Assembling Construction Technical Proposals, will explain how to write and assemble government construction contracting Technical Proposals. The speaker will discuss how to review an actual solicitation and identify those areas that must be addressed in the Technical Proposal. Items such as Proposal assembly, Experience, Past Performance, QC Plan, Safety Plan, Bonding/Financials, Pricing, Qualifications, and the Management Plan will all be discussed. This session will be from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

In this new three hour workshop, you will address business startup concerns and fears and learn to move forward with a mind set conducive to seizing the opportunity to create a new future as an entrepreneur. You will be introduced to entrepreneurship under current economic conditions and begin the entrepreneurial planning process by identifying potential business ideas and determine the research needed for business viability.

This initiative is being offered in response to the many workers who have lost their jobs and the entrepreneurs leading existing businesses that are struggling due to the current economic environment.

FastTrac NewVenture Business Startup Program Starts

FastTrac NewVenture is an entrepreneurial program that assists the start-up entrepreneur in developing their business concept and evaluating it through each step of the business planning process.

Throughout the program you will be given guidance while writing your own plan for your business idea. You will walk away from this class with all of your business questions answered.

This is an important opportunity for Central Texans because this training, which is usually offered at high rates, is being offered at a special rate of only $249.00 per person, and includes all the materials. In addition, spouses or business partners of the student can also participate at no additional charge.

Class meets every Monday 8:30am - 4:00pm at the Killeen Workforce Center, 300 Cheyenne. The four-day program starts Monday, November 9, and runs until Monday December 7, 2009 (No meeting Nov 23rd).
