Come on out, the weather is fine to take a ride to Jump Off Rock Overlook (not to jump... but because it's there.... easy parking and free!)
We'll glide across the mountain one way, and return by another.
RC will find a restaurant with food so good, your tongue will do a happy dance and and your wallet will cheer along!And if you (like the RC) have never been or knew much of Jump Off Rock, it should be of interest and a great view!Here's a little bit about the Jump Off Rock:
Excellent views of the Blue Ridge and Pisgah range, rolling countryside, and on clear days you might see into NC, SC, Georgia, and Tennessee.
From the parking area, it’s a short, fairly level walk to the overlook. Good for folks who don’t want a strenuous hike (like bikers!).
**According to local Cherokee legend, over 300 years ago a young Cherokee maiden learned her chief (beloved) had been killed in battle. Stricken with grief, she climbed to Jump Off Rock and jumped.
On moonlit nights, some say you can see her ghost at the overlook (unfortunately, we won't be there then to see her).Any member who has been to Jump Off Rock, please share any experiences with Tim Jones (road access, etc.) RC TJ will make ever effort to pre-ride before Friday to explore
