(Sun, 01 Nov 2009 9 AM - 5 PM PST) Harbor Yacht Club's Basic Keelboat lessons are the perfect introduction to sailing. Whether you are just starting out, or looking for a comprehensive review of the fundamentals, this course is right for you. This two-day weekend class is step one in US Sailing's sailor certification program (US Sailing Basic Keelboat). With the majority of your class spent out on the water sailing, you will get plenty of hands-on experience under the guidance of our friendly, professional instructors. By the afternoon of your second day you will be able rig, sail and dock our 22 foot sailboats without supervision. Completion of the course earns you the US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification and makes you eligible to enroll in step two, US Sailing Basic Cruising.

Ever dreamed of sailing your own boat to a nearby harbor or island destination? Harbor Yacht Club’s Basic Cruising course will get you there. Designed for graduates of the US Sailing Basic Keelboat course, or experienced sailor’s who have successfully challenged the US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification, this course gives you the skills and knowledge to skipper boats up to 32 feet in length. This is a two-day long course; Classes are held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This certification prepares you for step three, US Sailing Bareboat Cruising.

Topics also covered include trip planning, provisioning, navigation and more. This is a two-day overnight course from 9am on Saturday until 5pm on Sunday.
