Facility managers have a unique ability to maximize the value of strategic risk information in tandem with long-term master plans and capital improvement programs, facility lifecycle planning, and standard maintenance practices.

Understanding the risk to businesses and organizations from natural hazards like earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods is an essential component of successful business and facility management.

Some risks can be physically controlled, some can not - but all of them can be managed. Effectively doing so requires a strategic approach that balances the many different risk mitigation tools available while incorporating many different viewpoints.

Speaker: Alex Yanev, a partner in Yanev Associates.

Alex specializes in risk management in the private and public sectors. He is an expert in applying experience data to accurately assess natural hazards risks and manage them efficiently. Recent projects include risk assessments of large power systems and industrial facilities, detailed strategic risk-reduction programs for biotech and medical manufacturing companies, wineries, and major port and airports, commercial and large residential risk assessments, and post-loss damage investigations for the insurance and reinsurance industry.!
