Más Información: Attention, folks who like to get their sweat on in the club: There's a funky dance floor reserved for y'all when Afro:baile -- a weekly shout-out to lovers of Brazilian, salsa, merengue, and jazzy funk music -- debuts. The "Afro" refers to Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian, and the baile is Portuguese for "dance party"; the two will merge when DJ Seduce tantalizes and marinates eardrums with an eclectic mix of deep, soulful house, chill-out downtempo, and funky world beats. The event will also showcase a live performance by Neoprimitive, a six-piece ancient-to-future groove machine that jams out Fela Kuti-style Afrobeat with vocal harmonies à la Led Zeppelin and Rusted Root, Cuban-tinged congas in the voice of Mongo Santamaria, and intergalactic Sun Ra Arkestra polyrhythms.
